September Challenge over at Lindy"s Stamp Gang

Hey there you guys.  Glad you stopped by!!! You know how I love great colors and art journaling so when I saw the challenge this month over at Lindy's Stamp Gang Blog I just had to order right away.  So I received my order, very quick I might add and got started.  I began with Gesso, then some modeling paste for texture.  Once dry I had the difficult decision of picking a couple colors, and believe me it was hard to do with all the awesome colors available, btw, I also ordered their new "neon " collection to.  I also ordered the coordinating "magicals",  I have never used them before and I asked myself "why not?"  Those are so awesome and bright, So I used Tibetan Poppy Teal, Cattail Copper Brown and Edelweiss Moss Green with a little black for depth, the houses needed something to sit on. After I had some spray on my page it seemed to remind me of a mountain, you know the one's with the houses built right in to the sides.  I had the sizzix die with the little houses, cut them from some chipboard and sprayed them as well with the same colors and tucked them in to the "mountain".  It's kinda different from most of my other art journal layouts, but I tested the waters on Facebook and I received some wonderful feedback, so here I go, My first entry for Lindy's.  Wish me luck and thanks for stopping by and your support:)

Steamy goes Steampunk

Well steamy went a little steam punk today. I've been wanting to do another piece from Sandra Evertson's relics and artifact collection so I decided to pull out my gears cogs and other metals that I purchased from Mariam's crafting supply and went to work. This is the final result of one of four that I'm working on I hope you enjoy.  And thanks for stopping by.

Graphic 45 September Challenge

All the photo entries will be posted on the 25th

Hello there my friends, it has been a couple months since my last post, life just gets in the way sometimes.  I saw an article in our local newspaper that a "Steampunk" Convention is coming to our small town in October!! Pretty exciting I think, but it really got my muse going so I dove right in to some Steampunk fun.  Here are a few picks of an ATB I made using the G45 papers and I altered a tea box with some of Tim's papers as well. I hope you like what you see and thanks for stopping by.

Just a side note : I was fortunate to take some really fantastic classes this summer from Artful Gatherings.  It was absolutely awesome.  I'm gathering all my photos of projects and will be posting real soon so please come back and check it out and have a great day :)

Scrap Africa Challenge - Whats your mode of transportation?

Hello friends, its that time again for the Scrap Africa Challenge. Whats your mode of transportation? Whether it be planes, trains or automobiles, pick one or pick all and go check out this challenge.

When I saw this challenge I knew I wanted to use Tim Holtz stamp set without a doubt, I just love it and the details are great! So off to my art journal I went and started on my playful journey.

I decided on the kraft paper portion of my journal.  I covered with Tim's tissue paper and Finnibair's Matte Gel Medium to put into place.  I stamped my images on to G45 ATC tags, a little Dina Wakley Media Heavy Body Acrylic paint in magenta and that's when it Popped. Don't you think?

I had some little tickets from Maya Road, stamped with some words from the stamp set, they seemed to go along with the layout, but there still seemed to be something missing...

...I know, every time I look at a map, it make me want to put stick pins in and map out a trip with string or flag pins, lol, so I grabbed some blue stretchy cord and some bright green brads to map out my journey. Of course a few little flower embellishments I got from Miriams Crafting Supply finished the piece perfectly.  Want to go on a trip?  Check it out...

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind comments.  Here's wishing you all a fantastic day!! TTFN

Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge Blog #3

Well its hard to believe we are already on our 3rd month of Challenge's over at Creative Artiste Mixed Media Blog. Have you checked it out?  We have a great group of artist's trying to get this blog up and running.  We have monthly challenges, great sponsors and fun prizes, C'mon over and check it out!! (here)

So this month we are using a Bingo Card where you get to choose the line with inspirations for your entry...

It was a lot of fun, so I picked twine/string, black, die cut, monochromatic, and a quote and this is what I came up with...

I decided on making a tag, don't you just love tags, its so great to try new designs and techniques, they also make an awesome album when you put them all together.  I used the light blue as my monochromatic color and adhered to the tag. I also put some Finnabair's black gesso and stencil for the texture along the top. The "heart" die cuts" are one of the designs from our wonderful sponsors, Pam from Pickled Potpourri , which I cut out and heat embossed with black detailed embossing powder.  I'm sure you all recognize Tim Holtz man with umbrella (I cut off the umbrella) and attached the twine from the die cuts through his hand and finally added some Prima flowers and some of Tim's rub-ons.

I think it turned out pretty cute. I hope you all will join us over at Creative Artiste Challenge Blog and thank you so much for stopping by.  Have a great day, TTFN :)
